The 3 Essential Secrets to Time Management

How many of us would love to find that one secret to good time management?

To learn that one thing that if we did it, we would be able to get more done in less time and then have more time for our family or ourselves?

I know how frustrating it is.  I spent years trying every tip, trick and technique out there and reading every book I could get my hands on.

But when I realized that there really was one true secret to effective time managment, it changed my life forever.  We cannot control time, but we can control what we do.

You can only control the actions of one person - you.  So you might as well make those actions count.

WARNING:  If you Fail to Implement These
3 Secrets to Effective Time Management,
You Will NOT Succeed.

1.  Take Action

Please do not confuse busyness with action.  We are awfully busy in this day and time, but very little of importance is getting done.

If you are not completing tasks that are directly related to your goals, then you are not truly taking action.

Do something every day that will move you closer to that goal and at the end of the year (assuming you take weekends off) you will have moved 261 steps closer to your goal.

Do a money making task everyday and at the end of the year you will have done 261 things that make you money.

Decide what you need to do and then do it.  Research, training and education are necessary, but they are not action.

Something else happens when you take action.  You produce momentum.  An object in motion tends to stay in motion (remember from science class?).  So when you implement this first time management secret, you will find that you are in motion and it will give you both the desire and ability to stay in motion.

Don't worry about making mistakes.  Expect them, make them and learn from them.  Make them as fast as you can and then evaluate and realign as you go.

But just go.

2.  Leverage Time

No matter what you do, you cannot earn more, produce more or create more time.  But we all need to get so much done and there really are only so many hours in the day.  So what can we do?

The secret to truly getting more done in less time is to leverage your time.  To leverage means to use other people's time

There are several ways of doing this.  Delegate tasks if you have hired personnel.  And outsource if you do not.

If your work is one-on-one, think about how you could make it one-to-many and create an automatic system. Then repeat the process over and over.

3.  Be Relentless with Your Time

This is the most important secret to effective time management (or at least tied with taking action).

You must be relentless when taking control of your schedule and your actions.  It is your time and you will not be given more of it no matter how you treat it.

So, train yourself first to be doggedly protective of your time.  Then train others in how to respect your management of time.

I have been using a system that keeps track of my actions and my time and I have never been so productive.
